And on the top of that list is, taking a photography class. I have been dying to learn more, and figure out exactly how to make the most of the camera I have. I keep coming up with reasons of why I shouldn't do it, or why I don't have time. Blah blah blah. One of the reasons of why I haven't done it yet, it because from some reason or another I am petrified to do go out on my own, out of my comfort zone and try something new by myself. I have no idea where that fear came from, I used to have some big kahunas, but apparently I lost them somewhere in my travels. So if anyone finds some big balls laying around, they are totally mine!
Anyways.. there are some classes that I am looking into, and if I am actually going to do this then I need to book it now.. Not sure which one interests me more. But here is the info.
#1
Explore the power of color and light in photography. Working with film or a digital camera you will learn some of the technical and expressive tools for creating emotionally charged images and increase your sensitivity, playfulness, and personal vision. There will be exercises to support creative seeing along with experiments with natural and artificial light, white balance, exposure, processing and printing. Emphasis will be on manipulation through the camera. Bring two of your favorite photos to first class.
#2
Introduction to Digital Point and Shoot Camera
Are you wondering what all those buttons and controls on your point-and-shoot camera are? In this workshop, we will explore your camera menus and buttons in detail and experiment with making photographs in settings other than automatic. Please bring your camera, TV and USB cords, batteries, and instruction booklet to class. Individual point and shoot cameras can vary, so to get the most from this course, you should be willing to become familiar with your own camera's user manual. Important Info:Please bring your camera instruction manual and USB and video cords to class, plus an extra battery or battery charger. NOTE: this course is for digital "point and shoot" cameras, and not SLR cameras.
#3
Mastering Digital Photography
Digital photography has radically altered how images are made, perceived, delivered, and shown. This exciting new world of digital imaging requires many new skills that are not always easy to learn. In this course we will study the fundamentals of digital photography, including image acquisition, image manipulation, image output, and color management, which are important for successful image making. We also emphasize the need for creating an effective work flow, including file organization, backup, and storage. The overall goal of the course is to build on each student's existing knowledge of photography and computers, and enhance each student's ability to create high-quality digital photographs. Each meeting will consist of classroom lecture, discussion, and demonstrations.
Those are my choices... and then again my usual choice is to not go. Still up in the air. I am really hoping to just accidentally fall over some very amazing photography skills. Hey why not..
